The Foxy Gals
Here at Foxy Originals we are absolutely obsessed with gold! We love how versatile gold jewelry is. Gold pieces can be worn all year round, making them the perfect investment to add to your jewelry collection.
If you choose to wear a statement piece, be sure to tone down the rest of your jewelry. To ensure your jewelry pieces don’t compete with one another, showcase one item at a time so it can shine to its utmost potential (after you, of course).
If you plan on wearing more subdued pieces, don’t be afraid to layer. There is nothing that screams fun more than an arm party! To add interest, throw on a watch on or mix metals to add interest.
Gold looks fabulous with its classic companion, black, but don’t be afraid to step out of the box. It is a wonderful way to add drama to your outfit. Gold has a warm undertone so try it with warm colors to compliment and cool colors to contrast.
Some of our favorite gold foxy pieces can be seen in the picture above (left to right)

When the leaves begin to fall, we know a new fashion season is approaching. Transitioning from a summer to fall wardrobe can be overwhelming. The weather can be hot, the weather can be cold. All too often we feel like Goldilocks never being able to find something that is just right! However, Toronto blogger Irene from Irene Victoria Design Co. recently managed to find that perfect fall outfit.
In her recent blog post seen here, she features a comfortable yet chic outfit that can be worn on any fall day. Layering your ensemble with a patterned scarf and structured jacket like Irene has done is a great way to pump up a classic outfit, all while still being prepared for fall’s unpredictable weather. Most importantly you mustn’t forget about the accessories. We were flattered when we saw Irene chose to spice up her outfit with our Jazz Earrings and Love Bracelet. Make sure to check out Irene’s blog for more inspiration.
Have a happy fall everyone. We hope that no matter what you wear, your season is just right!

We asked our Foxy fans to send in stories about friends or family members this A.A. Mine quote reminds them of.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think.
We were overwhelmed by the responses and deeply moved by the tales our fans shared. After a lot of deliberation, we’re delighted to feature the three touching winning stories written by these fabulous writers: Laura Brown-Bowers, Nathalie C. Houle and Dianna Ellis! Each of our winners have received two Bird Necklaces – one for their friend or family member and the other for themselves.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their entries and for sharing a piece of your life with us! We feel truly honored. We hope you enjoy these stories as much as we did.
It was three days after my daughter was born that my mother found out she had cancer. Cancer. Beatrice was her first grandchild. A time that was meant to be pure joy. As my family gathered around my daughter and I, my mother held a secret that only she and my father knew. Cancer. She didn’t show a morsel of sadness nor did she crumble in front of us. My mother stayed with me for several days when I got home from the hospital. She got up with me in the middle of the night when Beatrice hungrily cried and changed every diaper. I knew nothing. Cancer. My mother was brave not to let us know at that time. She wanted this time to be about Beatrice.
Before chemotherapy and radiation, I spent a week with her up north. While talking about the future months, my mother said one thing that I will never forget, “I ask that cancer stops with me. I pray that I will carry this burden so that you and your sister will never have to.” My mother is strong. Cancer.
Her hair fell out and her body grew weak and tired. Not once did she complain. Not once. Instead of allowing negativity to permeate her life and drag her down, my mother chose to be optimistic. She chose to look at this as part of her journey. She was going to get through it. Death was not an option. I have heard that the state of our mind can greatly affect our health. My mother is smart.
My mother has been cancer free for a year now and I celebrate this everyday. She has been an integral part of my daughter’s life and continues to be my hero.

Joy has been going through an extremely difficult divorce for the past several years. She has two young children, one special needs, and the divorce has taken its toll on her many times. I have happily been her shoulder to cry on, participant in marathon phone calls (she in Toronto and I in Ottawa) and all the things one does as a lifelong BFF. It’s been really hard to see her have moments of doubt and uncertainty in her ability to get through this journey. Sometimes, it was as though she had forgotten how truly brave, smart and strong she really is – something I have known since we met! There were times that no matter how often I reminded her, she just wouldn’t believe me. I so often wanted to get into my car, make the 5 hour drive to her place and shout from her rooftop so she would FINALLY get it!
Fortunately, those times have passed and while the divorce isn’t yet finalized, she has moved on. Her strength and intelligence have seen her buy her own home, go back to work and start enjoying a busy and fun social life – all while raising two incredibly beautiful, wonderful kids (for the most part entirely on her own). I hear the confidence in her voice and it is also reflected in the decisions she makes. She remembers now, every day, that she truly is brave, strong and smart. The best part? I am fiercely proud of the fact that Joy is my BFF – she is the epitome of what a real best friend is!!
My Mom, My Rock
My dad died suddenly almost 6 years ago, leaving my mom, 70 years old, who had never been alone in 53 years…very alone, frozen in shock/fear/sadness as anyone would be. To make sure she was going to be okay, I moved in with her for around 18 months and in April of 2009 I moved out knowing that it was time for her to begin life again after reliving that horrible day over and over again and constantly crying. And then the most amazing thing happened, the mom we remembered came back.
She started going to church again, singing in the choir, she went out with her girlfriends to dinner AND she started dating, something he hadn’t done since 1953!! After dating one certain gentleman for a year, traveling together, helping each other, just enjoying life again, she gave him an ultimatum. She told him they were either going to marry soon (he’d mentioned marriage on numerous occasions) or else she was not going to waste anymore time with him, stating she would no longer see him except as a neighbor (3 doors down) waving hi, and then she hung up. She spent a restless night wondering what he would decide and then he called. Yes, he too wanted to get married so they did January 6th of this year. They celebrate monthly and are so very happy.
She possesses all the qualities in A.A. Mine’s quote and shows me that I too can be braver, stronger and smarter than I think I am. In fact I have the quote on my dresser…. All thanks to my mom, the 76 year old newlywed. I’ve attached their picture so you can see the happy couple.
