Style Profile: Amanda Parris

Amanda has an amazing work wardrobe that we absolutely fell in love with. She showcases a bold colour palette and gold accent jewellery.

Name: Amanda Parris

Hometown: Born in Toronto, raised in Vancouver, but consider Toronto my hometown.

Current title/Company: Senior Manager, Communications

Educational Background: I have a degree in Fashion design from Ryerson University, but ended up pursuing other career opportunities after graduation.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Never burn bridges. You never know who you are going to run into, or need to work with again in the future.

What Foxy pieces are you wearing?

I’m wearing the Aspen Earrings, Malta Necklace, and Shine Toggle Bracelet in gold. I like how these pieces can transform a basic outfit into something more. Every outfit needs a little sparkle.

How do you define your overall style; who is your style inspiration?

I like classic pieces with a twist. I mix key wardrobe basics with hits of colour and bold prints. Fabric quality and fit matter. I also love shoes and jewelry, and (to my husband’s frustration) I am running out of places to stash my pumps and earrings. I have a few style inspirations: Jenna Lyons (Creative Director & President, JCrew), Caroline Issa (Chief Executive & Fashion Director, Tank Magazine) and Olivia Palermo.

Coffee or Tea?

I live up to my star sign: Gemini. My (somewhat split) personality means I like tea to start the day, but drink coffee for that extra boost before the gym or for an afternoon pick-me-up.

If you were a piece of Foxy jewelry, what would you be and why?

I would be the Convertible Harmony Necklace in gold. Like me, that necklace can be very different things depending on my mood. Simple, complicated, short, long, or multi-layered – it’s up to me!

If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be and what would you order?

I would love to have lunch with Michelle Obama. I think she is very ‘real’ and we have a lot in common (working mothers with busy lives). I’d like to hear what she has planned for the next phase of her life. For lunch I would keep it simple: a salad Niçoise and a glass of wine. And dessert.

What fashion trend from the past do you want to see come back into style?

Once you’ve lived through a style, you don’t really want it to come back again (the ‘80s anyone?). Over the past few years I’ve seen a departure from dominating trends. I like how more and more people are finding their personal style based on their personality, lifestyle and body shape. I hope the ‘trend’ for less trends continues.
